Color Adjustments (CT)

How to color grade with Color Adjustm. and Color Adjustm. 2 workspaces

Color Adjustment workspaces are (in the default profile) located on the third button (on two levels: normal and FN level). Main functionality is the same but the working princible is different.

Color Adjustm. 2 workspace (round button 3)

This workspace (by default round button 3) focuses on tuning and correcting the existing colors by prioritising HSL (Hue, Saturation and Luminance), B&W and Split Toning to the dials. These different dial pages can be accessed directly from the touch screen's page links.

Bottom row:

HSL-Adjustment dial pages: Each page contains the adjustments for two colors separated into left and right dial banks. Each bank contains adjustment for Hue (top), Saturation (middle) and Luminance (bottom). Pages are divided by closest colors:

  • Red & orange,
  • Yellow & Green,
  • Aqua (cyan) & Blue,
  • Purple & Magenta.

Middle row:

Useful adjustments which help to define a starting point for color grading.

  • Auto White Balance: Quickly adjust your image based on Lightroom algorithms
  • White Balance Picker: Tune white balance from a gray surface (e.g. color checker)
  • Paste From Previous: Paste adjustments from the previous image
  • Split Toning Dials page: Use split toning e.g. to warm up shadows

Top row:

Functions which are common but not used for every image:

  • Color Mode: Switch between Color / Grayscale (B&W)
  • Virtual Copy: Create a copy of your image *
  • B&W Dials (main & extra): Open B&W color channel adjustments after image conversion

* It is recommended to create a virtual copy of a color image before converting the image to B&W. This way you will have a color and B&W copies of the same image.

Wheel:

Wheel contains a menu for four different adjustment sets which help while color grading:

  • Basic Panel: Contains all basic panel adjustments (e.g. exposure, contrast..)
  • Local Tools: Activate adjustment brush, graduated or radial filter, or red eye removal tool
  • B&W: Same adjustments as in two B&W dial pages, but in a list form and utilizing the wheel ring.
  • Camera Calibration: If your raw file's RGB input needs adjusting

Color Adjustm. workspace (round button FN+3)

This workspace is for user who want to do simple color toning (color grading). Dials are focused for (legacy) split toning functions: Left bank for high tones and right bank for shadow tones and the balance between high and shadow toning.

Fine tuning the colors is done with the wheel. Wheel pages can be accessed via touch buttons.

Wheel selector menu:

All adjustments for HSL are presented as a list. Scroll the color channel and turn the wheel to adjust:

  • Hue: Opens Hue adjustments for all color channels (to the wheel)
  • Luminance: Opens Luminance adjustments for all color channels (to the wheel)
  • Saturation: Opens Saturation adjustments for all color channels (to the wheel)
  • B&W: Opens B&W adjustments for all color channels (to the wheel)

Touch actions:

Touch screen contains basic functions for copy/paste adjustments from previous or other images, most used adjustment tools (brush, radial and graduated filter) and converting image between color and grayscale (B&W).

In addition to previous wheel pages, touch screen contains two extra wheel page links:

  • Tone Curve Wheel: Contains all basic panel adjustments (e.g. exposure, contrast..)
  • Raw Calibration Wheel: If your raw file's RGB input needs calibration
