Culling and rating workspaces for library and develop modules (Loupedeck Live)

Culling and Rating workspace for Loupedeck Live is a combination of assining stars and color tags and navigating as quickly as possible. This workspace is build around a rating method described in this article: click here!

Dials

Dials are assigned with the most basic functions needed for going through a big set of images.

  • Thumb size: Change the thumbnail size of the images (in grid view)
  • Exp(osure): Quickly test if under or over exposured image is editable or not
  • Next/Prev Photo: Navigate the images on the film strip with one dial
    • Set 3 stars (Dial Press): Use the same dial to give the image three stars

Touch buttons

Rating workspace contains three different pages. Logic of the pages is easy to remember:

First Page: Star Ratings and Color Tags

Second Page: Filter images based on actions on first page (e.g. "Show images above 3 stars")

Third Page: Image tools (e.g. compile HDR image, toggle between B&W / Color mode)

 

Top Row on pages 1,2 and 3 contain links between pages:

  • Image Info: Toggle image EXIF-data (e.g. shutter speed, aperture) (1st page only)
  • Link to Rating Page
  • Link to Filters Page
  • Link to Tools Page

Page 1: Rating

  • Assign Color tags: Red, Yellow, Green and Blue
  • Set rating value from 2 to 5

 

Page 2: Filtering

  • Filter images based on color tag red, yellow, green or blue
  • Filter images based on rating value (e.g. show images with 3 stars or above)

 

Page 3: Tools

  • Color Mode: Toggle between B&W (grayscale) and Color modes
  • Panorama: Open dialog for combining multiple images as one Panorama image
  • HDR: Open dialog for combining multiple images as one HDR image
  • Rotate 90° Left: Rotate image which is upside down.

Using actions on this page images can be rated and filtered based on the given star rating. 1 star rating is not available on this page, but can be easily added if needed.

  • Bottom Row: Assign star ratings (2-5)

Rating Development Workspace

This workspace is ment for a process that utilizes only develop module - even the rating is done in Develop instead of Library. This is useful if you just pick-and-edit while you go thorough the images - and not necessarily even check the whole gallery, just the images you need.

Dials contain all basic tone controls (as in Basic Adjustments workspace).

Touch buttons have the basic culling actions: Star ratings (2,3) for selecting images, red and green to mark images and also a possibility to pick/reject or add images to a quick collection.
