How to restore profiles from backups?

The Loupedeck application creates daily backups of your user profiles. These backups are stored locally on your computer. This guide will help you restore your profiles from a backup.

To summarize, you will need to replace the current profile folder with the desired backup to restore profiles.

NOTE: These instructions apply to Loupedeck 6.0 and newer versions.

Steps to Restore Profiles from Backups:

  1. Stop the Loupedeck Application
Close the Loupedeck application if it's running.
    • Windows: Select “Stop Loupedeck” on the Loupedeck icon in the Windows system tray

  • macOS: Select “Quit” on the Loupedeck icon in the macOS menu bar
  1. Locate the Logi Plugin Service User Data
    • Ensure that hidden folders are shown in Windows Explorer or macOS Finder.
    • Navigate to the Logi Plugin Service user data folder according to your operating system:
    • Windows: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Logi\LogiPluginService\
    • macOS: /Users/<YourUsername>/Library/Application Support/Logi/LogiPluginService/
  2. Backup Current Profiles
    • Rename the Applications folder in the Logi Plugin Service user data folder (e.g. to Applications_ORIGINAL).
    • Full path of the profile folder to rename:
      1. Windows: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Logi\LogiPluginService\Applications\
      2. macOS: /Users/<YourUsername>/Library/Application Support/Logi/LogiPluginService/Applications/
    • Make sure that the renamed folder is stored somewhere safe in case you will the original profiles later.
  3. Identify the Desired Backup
    • Open the Applications.Backups subfolder in the Logi Plugin Service user data folder.
    • Backups are stored as zip files and they are organized by date (e.g., backup_2024-11-28_08-50-40.zip).
    • Choose the backup you wish to restore.
  4. Extract the Backup Package
    • Extract the chosen zip file.
    • The extracted folder will have the same name as the zip file (e.g., backup_2024-11-28_08-50-40).
    • Windows only: If you get the "Path Too Long" error when extracting the package, copy the selected zip file to a simpler location, such as “C:\Users\<YourUsername>”. This prevents file paths from becoming too long during the extraction.
  5. Move and Rename the Extracted Folder
    • Move the extracted folder to the Logi Plugin Service user data folder.
      1. Windows: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Logi\LogiPluginService\
      2. macOS: /Users/<YourUsername>/Library/Application Support/Logi/LogiPluginService/
    • Rename the folder to Applications.

Restart the Loupedeck Application
Start the Loupedeck application. Your profiles should now be restored.
