Missing actions in profiles: How to restore them from automatic backups?

Due to the recent 6.0.2 update some users have lost actions created within 5.x software version in their profiles. This guide shows how to restore these profiles and get back your actions.

Loupedeck automatically creates daily backups of user profiles, which are stored in the Logi Plugin Service user data folder. To restore profiles, you'll replace the current profile folder with the desired backup.

NOTE: These instructions apply to Loupedeck 6.0 and newer versions.

First steps:

  1. Update to Loupedeck 6.0.3
  2. Now you can restore your profiles.
    1. From Backup files
    2. From Marketplace

Steps to Restore Profiles from Backups:

  1. Stop the Loupedeck Application
Close the Loupedeck application if it's running.
  2. Locate the Logi Plugin Service User Data Folder
Navigate to the appropriate folder for your operating system:
    • Windows: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Logi\LogiPluginService
    • macOS: /Users/<YourUsername>/Library/Application Support/Logi/LogiPluginService
  3. Rename the Current Profile Folder
In the Logi Plugin Service user data folder, rename the Applications folder to Applications_OLD. This way you save the current profiles in case you need them later.
  4. Find and Extract the Desired Backup
    • Open the Applications.Backups subfolder.
    • Backups are stored as .zip files named by their creation date in the format YYYY-MM-DD (e.g., backup_2024-11-28_08-50-40.zip).
    • Select the backup file you want to restore.
  5. Windows Only: Prevent "Path Too Long" Errors
Copy the selected .zip file to a simpler location, such as C:\Users\<YourUsername>. This prevents file path issues during extraction.
  6. Extract the Backup Package
    • Extract the .zip file.
    • The extracted folder will have the same name as the .zip file (e.g., backup_2024-11-28_08-50-40).
  7. Move and Rename the Extracted Folder
    • Move the extracted folder to the Logi Plugin Service user data folder.
    • Rename the folder to Applications.
  8. Restart the Loupedeck Application
Start the Loupedeck application. Your profiles should now be restored.
